René-Pomerleau Herbarium

The René-Pomerleau Herbarium's role is to identify, compare and validate fungi specimens, as well as conduct genetic studies on pathogens. It can therefore be compared to a huge encyclopedia.

The Herbarium operates very much like a library. All the specimens are coded and a record is kept of the place and date of collection, the host species and other specific conditions. The Herbarium also serves as a reference source on fungal biodiversity in Quebec.
